Barkudo is an iPhone app that allows you to access sweet drink specials! It also contains a current events service call Tonight. Download Barkudo, for free, on the App Store.
How do I get started?
Download the app and take a look around! Depending on your location, there may or may not be deals available at first, but we are growing quickly!
In order to redeem deals, youʼll need to create a free Barkudo account.
How do I redeem a deal?
Access the deal on your phone to bring up the “redeem screen”. Once you have the attention of the bartender, show them your phone in order to redeem it!
I tried to redeem a deal, but the bartender didnʼt honor the deal. You guys suck!
Whoa whoa whoa! Give us the name of the place, and weʼll knock some heads together.
I saved a deal yesterday, and it disappeared this morning. Whatʼs up with that?
Barkudo deals are only valid the day/night that they are offered. If you save a deal on a Wednesday, it will expire that night when that bar closes. Be sure to get redeem the deal before its too late!
I saved a deal, but it seems to have disappeared. Is this a bug?
Hmmm, that is strange.
Sounds like you are a victim of bad luck. Occasionally a bar owner may delete a deal during the course of business. When this happens, all outstanding versions of the deal are vaporized - including the one you saved.
What a buzzkill.
There arenʼt any deals in my area. Thanks for nothing.
We feel your pain. We hate making it rain at the bar, too.
It sounds like you are an early adopter of Barkudo! Mention the Barkudo app to a bouncer or bartender in your area and tell them to get their shit together.
Bear with us, we are expanding everyday. In the meantime, you might check out the Tonight tab.
What does Barkudo cost?
Its free, dude.
What is Barkudo, and how does it work?
Barkudo is a mobile marketing service that connects drinkers with drink-sellers. People looking to buy great drinks at low prices should download the free Barkudo app from the App Store. Bar owners and managers who are looking for an innovative way to attract new business should sign up for free at www.barkudo.com.
How do drink specials work?
Once you have a Barkudo account, log in to create drink deals that will be displayed on our iPhone App. Potential patrons using the Barkudo app will see your deal on their phone, and will flock to your bar to redeem your drink special.
The redemption process takes place right on the userʼs phone. When a patron is attempting to redeem a Barkudo special, he or she will show the bartender their phone to receive the special. At that point, the bartender should “swipe” the bottom of the userʼs phone to clear the deal and indicate that the deal has been “redeemed”. This prevents the user from exploiting the great deal youʼve offered all night.
Your motto is “Happy hour, reinvented.” What makes Barkudo different?
Well, Barkudo is changing a lot of things.
First and foremost, Barkudo gives you the opportunity to reach potential customers before they get to your bar. Whereas the traditional happy hour is a passive process, Barkudo makes drink specials an active “pulling” process that attracts business from afar.
Secondly, Barkudo promises to open a whole new range of pricing options for drink specials. Until now, bar managerʼs have been handcuffed with a common dilemma: the greater the discount you offer to customers, the lower the margin you will achieve throughout the night.
Barkudo changes all that. Because we control all deal activity on our iPhone app, we permit each user to redeem a drink special only once.
With Barkudo you can offer a truly attractive drink special to lure customers to your bar. Once youʼve attracted customers with Barkudo, theyʼll stick around and be left to choose from your standard selection of higher margin items!
I am a bar manager interested in using Barkudo for my business, how do I get started?

Iʼve created a merchant account, how do I create deals?
Once youʼve logged into your Barkudo account, click on the “Deals” tab and click on any row to create a deal for that day.
Any tips on how to create a good deal?
A: Successful clients seem to share a few characteristics in their Barkudo deals:
- Make a simple title: (Bud Light Pitcher, 32oz Coors, Shot of Whiskey, etc.) If you need to add additional details or restriction, place that information in the “Extended Details” space, not the title.
- Offer a great discount: Users canʼt exploit the deal all night, and nothing excites a group of inebriated college kids like an irresistible drink offer.
- Run deals every night: We are all creatures of habit. The more deals you have running during the week, the more reliably userʼs will get in the habit of checking Barkudo to see what kind of deals you are offering.
- Experiment: The other thing userʼs crave is variety. Try to cycle in new drink specials every so often to see which deals bring home the bacon!
Iʼve created a deal for Friday - during what hours will it run?
Deals are scheduled to run during your barʼs regular business hours (so be sure to input your location hours accurately!). This helps ensure that customers donʼt accidentally redeem your deal when your bar is closed.
My analytics indicate that I had a lot of redeems last night, yet my bartenderʼs donʼt believe the reported figure is accurate.
Our iPhone app checks the location of a user when they attempt to redeem a deal. If the user isnʼt within a specific radius of your barʼs location, we deny them ability to redeem the deal. In this way, we try to ensure that users redeeming your deal are actually sitting at your bar.
Of course, there will inevitably be occasional mistakes made by users as they get acclimated to our service. Due to user error, it is possible that recorded redeems donʼt exactly match your bar records on a given night. If you experience a frequent and rampant disparity, be sure to contact us and weʼll investigate and make things right!
On the Analytics tab: What are “views”? What are “redeems”? How should I interpret my performance?
“Views” designate the total number of times users actually viewed your deal. Every time a enduser opens their phone and your deal is displayed counts as a “view”. “Redeems” are the total number of times that a user redeemed a Barkudo special at your bar. Redeems are the number of customers delivered by Barkudo.
As a bar manager, an indication of a highly successful deal is one that has a high “redemption rate” - that is, the redeems closely match the views. Conversely, if you have a deal that has plenty of views but not many redeems, chances are that deal is one that isnʼt particularly attractive for your user base.
